All you need to know about the first UAE astronaut: Hazza Al Mansouri

In December 2017, His Highness Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai imagined a dream about sending the first UAE space astronaut into space.

Somewhat less than two years down the line, this vision was practiced as UAE’s Hazza Al Mansouri left a mark on the world and turned into the first Emirati space traveler to arrive at space.

Let’s take a look at the journey of the first Astronaut, Hazza Al Mansouri.

One of the most esteemed and loved people in the UAE today is Hazza Al Mansouri. From bottom to top high level employees, everyone is celebrating his historic achievement. The UAE became the 19 th country which visit the ISS (International Space Station) because of his incredible journey.

How was Hazza Al Mansouri selected for the Mission?

He was incredibly a former pilot. He was chosen for the great mission ahead of thousands of applications. The selection process starts from 2017 December. Around 4022 applicants applied for the mission to become a part of the great mission.  Officials from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre oversaw the selection process. The applied candidates were tested on different subjects like Maths, Science, Physics, technology and also the knowledge of Space.

Only 400 applicants cleared the preliminary test. And finally the second test brought the number to only 95. These candidates entered through the medical test and only 39 interested people left. Subsequently, they had a chance to show their personality, cognitive ability, aptitude and intelligence via interview sessions.

From 39 Candidates, 9 candidates were evaluated by the Russian space experts. After almost two years, two people were selected as the part of mission. Hazza Al Mansouri and Sultan Al Neyadi (as Hazza’s back up).

The proud announcement was done by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He emphasized that the proud mission will raise and inspire the future generation.

Subsequently, the people got training from experienced experts. They completed the training at NASA, Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre (Russia) and the European Space Agency (Germany). By last April, Hazza Al Mansouri were nominated as the man would be first Emirati Astronaut and Sultan Al Neyadi as Hazza’s back up.

They passed their final qualification exam on September 2nd 2019 before the mission. They prepared the final launch set 25 th September in Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Hazza Al Mansouri will remain at the ISS for eight days.

The Selected Spacecraft for the mission was Russian Soyuz MS-15.

During the mission, the team will do 15experiments to study the impact of microgravity. These experiments were selected from the research done in Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre. Schools from UAE is also involving on the process. The students will prepare the same experiment on earth. After the successful mission, the results of the both mission will compare later.

Moreover, after the mission, how Hazza Al Mansouris body reacted to to being in space will be studied. This is the first time, these kind of studies s happening.

This UAE space traveler program is viewed as an establishment for future investigation. The arrangement of sending an unmanned strategic Mars is as of now in advancement.
